Shift Supervisor | Mon: 12pm-8pm Tues: 3pm-7pm Fri: 11am-7pm Sat-Sun: 10am-6pm
Our Shift Supervisor position is responsible for assisting individuals with disabilities in their daily living needs, including habilitation, building community and family/friend support, supervision, health & safety, and enhancing the quality of life. Responsible for the supervision of other staff in the absence of the Habilitation Specialist. Supervisory experience preferred.
RESPONSIBLE TO: Residential Coordinators/Supported Living Coordinators
RESPONSIBLE FOR: Direct Support Professionals in the absence of Coordinators.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides direct assistance and supervision to individuals and staff.
2. Supervises and participates in ensuring the safety and cleanliness of home/apartment.
3. Provides Activities of Daily Living (ADL) support to individuals served.
4. Writes/designs assessments, individualized planning, skill training, and behavioral deceleration.

5. Gathers and presents data. Develops and implements individual objectives.
6. Creates and uses adaptive devices.
7. Observe and report all individuals’ health and medical needs to their supervisors and keep appropriate parties informed of their well-being.
8. Assists individuals in the self-administration of medications. Documents and assures that medications are taken.
8. Assists individuals in arranging for and accompanying them on outings, making purchases, and providing opportunities for community integration and inclusion.
9. Participates in menu planning & shopping, and preparation of meals with individuals by
established menus, and assists individuals in clean up afterward.
10. Documents in writing and reports suspected incidents of abuse, exploitation, and neglect to APS and the Director of Services.
11. Writes incident reports for events that affect the health and safety of individuals.
12. Transports individuals to community events/outings and work.
13. Uses least restrictive alternatives when handling behavioral incidents not covered by a written program.
14. Provides orientation and in-service training to new staff as assigned.
15. Assigns work to staff as specified by the Coordinator or as needed to most effectively meet the needs of the individuals during any given shift.
16. Monitors and evaluates staff performance while following employee-performance-appraisal guidelines.
17. Recommends and participates in disciplinary action for staff.
18. Monitors shift timesheets for accuracy.
19. Conducts and documents fire drills and emergency procedures as necessary.
20. Ensures that outside areas of homes are orderly and well-kept, such as but not limited to lawns mowed, yards watered, sidewalks and driveways shoveled.
21. Assists individuals with managing finances and personal monies e.g., food stamps, checkbooks, petty cash, and paying bills.
22. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
1. Attends all mandatory orientation and training activities, scheduled staff meetings, and in-services/training as requested by Supervisor.
2. Maintains required certifications.
3. Adheres to corporate policies and procedures.
4. Maintains appropriate attendance.
5. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with individuals, families, co-workers, agencies, and the public.
6. Uses communication skills to participate effectively as a team member.
7. Documents correct work hours on time sheets/MITC and task sheets and submit them in a timely manner to their Supervisor for approval.
8. Uses equipment and supplies efficiently and informs Supervisor of shortages/needs.
9. Safeguards and strictly maintains confidentiality in all private and personal information regarding individuals with disabilities received during and after the course of employment.
10. Practices safe work habits and follows all safety regulations and company procedures.
A high school diploma or equivalent, prior experience working with persons with disabilities, and satisfactory completion of the duties of a Direct Support Professional or equivalent position are preferred. Supervisory experience is also preferred. Must be 18 years or older.
– No record of abuse/neglect or exploitation of others.
– Must have or obtain a valid Montana driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, and proof of private auto insurance in compliance with Montana State law within One month of hire.
– Must have or obtain Medication and Epilepsy Certification within 30 days of hire.
– Must have current proof of negative TB test result.
– Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
– Physical effort is required to perform the following: lift or physically assist individuals in daily activities; restrain individuals (following our procedures); carry supplies; perform household cleaning, and move furniture. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. In addition, standing, walking, and bending are required.
– Exposure to unpleasant sights, sounds, or odors, and physical aggression may be encountered.
– Exposure to communicable diseases and other conditions.
– Scheduling requires flexibility, e.g. overnights, weekends, schedule changes, and additional hours.
– Operates a passenger vehicle for durations of up to 2 hours.
Must Have: Valid driver’s license, No history of neglect, abuse, or exploitation.
