Our Residential support position provides support to staff that provides services to adult’s w/disabilities.  Supervisory experience preferred.

A qualified individual responsible for responding to on-call/emergency requests from staff or individuals with
disabilities and to ensure the smooth operation of services.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Assistant Director of Services – Residential

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides for emergency and on-call services, such as, assisting shift supervisors in ensuring adequate staff to provide assistance to individuals, following the Opportunity Resources, Inc. (ORI) Supervision Policy.
2. Refers health and safety issues to the appropriate Residential Coordinator/Assistant Director of Services.
3. Fills shifts as necessary.
4. Fill in for regular staff in assisting individuals in self-administration of medications; documents individuals responses to the medication.
5. Assists staff in arranging for and accompanying individuals on outings and providing opportunities for community integration and inclusion.
6. Documents and reports suspected incidents of abuse, exploitation, and neglect to immediate supervisor.
7. Writes incident reports for events that affect health and safety of individuals.
8. Uses least restrictive alternatives when handling behavioral incidents.
9. Gives observations and input to Residential Coordinator for staff performance appraisals.
10. Upon request, conducts and documents fire drills and emergency procedures.
11. Maintains awareness of individuals rights and enforces these rights.
12. Refers issues of maintenance, safety, and appearance of grounds and facilities to Residential Coordinator.
13. Documents events in the On-call log book.
14. Coordinates transportation, and on a limited basis, will provide direct transportation.
15. Trains staff in safe operation of corporation vehicles.
16. Responses to maintenance crisis and makes appropriate arrangements.
17. Performs other duties as assigned.

GENERAL:
1. Attends all mandatory orientation and training activities, scheduled staff meetings, and in-services/training as requested by Supervisor.
2. Maintains required certifications.
3. Adheres to corporate policies and procedures.
4. Maintain appropriate attendance.
5. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with individuals, co-workers, parents, agencies, and the public.
6. Uses communication skills to participate effectively as a team member.
7. Documents accurately work performed on time sheets/MITC and task sheets and submit them in a timely manner to Supervisor for approval.
8. Uses equipment and supplies efficiently and informs Supervisor of shortages/needs.
9. Safeguards and keeps confidential all Private and Personal Information regarding individuals with disabilities received in the course of their employment by the Corporation.
10. Practice safe work habits and follow all safety regulations and company procedures.
11. Maintain strictest confidentiality.

QUALIFICATIONS:
– High school diploma or equivalent and prior experience working with persons with disabilities preferred.
– Knowledge and experience with the Missoula community and activities preferred.
– No record of abuse/neglect or exploitation of others.
– Must have or obtain a valid Montana drivers license; be insurable; and present proof of private auto insurance in compliance with Montana State law within one month of hire.
– Must have or obtain Medication and Epilepsy Certification within 30 days of hire.
– Must have current proof of negative TB test result

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
– Physical effort is required to perform the following: lift or physically assist individuals in daily activities; restrain individuals; carry supplies; perform household cleaning and move furniture.
– Standing, walking, and bending are required.
– Both indoor and outdoor activities are required.
– Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
– Exposure to unpleasant sights, sounds or odors, and physical aggression may be encountered.
– Exposure to communicable diseases and other conditions.
– Scheduling requires flexibility.
