ART PROGRAM ASSISTANT
FT position responsible for supporting and assisting individuals with disabilities in accessing. Experience in social services, with individuals with disabilities, pottery and other art mediums preferred.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Identifies and develops new art/recreation programs in the community.
2. Assist in all aspects of the art program as needed.
3. Promotes participation by individuals with disabilities in inclusive, community-based art/recreation programs.
4. Promotes accessibility of programs as needed.
5. Coordinates efforts necessary and assists individuals with disabilities in accessing art activities.
6. Accompanies and/or transport individuals to participate in various community activities.
7. Provides direct support to individuals in participation in art activities.
8. Develops implements and assists with assessment materials for identifying individual interests.
9. Documents in writing and reports suspected incidents of abuse, exploitation, and neglect to APS; the Director of Services.
10. Tracks participation and documents in individuals’ log as needed.
11. Maintains active involvement with art/recreation resources and programs within the community.
12. Attends team meetings and client planning sessions when appropriate.
13. Responds to individuals’ changing needs.
14. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
GENERAL:
1. Attends all mandatory orientation and training activities, scheduled staff meetings, and in-services/training as requested by Supervisor.
2. Maintains required certifications.
3. Adheres to corporate policies and procedures.
4. Maintain appropriate attendance.
5. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with individuals, co-workers, parents, agencies, and the public.
6. Uses communication skills to participate effectively as a team member.
7. Documents accurately work performed on Paycom and task sheets and submit them in a timely manner to Supervisor for approval.
8. Uses equipment and supplies efficiently and informs Supervisor of shortages/needs.
9. Safeguards and keeps confidential all Private and Personal Information regarding individuals with disabilities received in the course of their employment by the Corporation.
10. Practice safe work habits and follow all safety regulations and company procedures.
11. Maintain strictest confidentiality.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
– Physical effort is required to perform the following: lift or physically assist individuals in daily activities; restrain individuals (following our procedures); carry supplies; Must be able to lift 50 lbs. In addition, standing, walking, and bending are required. Both indoor and outdoor activities are required.
– Exposure to unpleasant sights, sounds or odors, and physical aggression may be encountered.
– Exposure to communicable diseases and other conditions.
– Scheduling requires flexibility, varied hours and shifts.
QUALIFICATIONS:
– Experience working in social services preferred.
– Experience with individuals with disabilities preferred.
– No record of abuse/ neglect or exploitation of others.
– High school diploma or equivalent
– Experience in the art field preferred.
– Experience in Pottery or other art mediums preferred.
